Crime fiction expert Martin Edwards has produced another non-fiction book about the genre: a history of detection stories from the very beginning.
My review of it appears in the i newspaper today:
or you can read it by following this link:
The Life of Crime by Martin Edwards, review: An awe-inspiring treat for crime fans (inews.co.uk)
Martin has featured on the blog before in various guises....
It's such a great resource, isn't it, Moira? And Martin Edwards knows the genre as few other people do; he's got such insight. Definitely something that ought to be in every crime fiction fan's library, I think.
ReplyDeleteYes, what he has achieved is remarkable, and could only be done by someone who really loves crime fiction.
DeleteThanks for the link to your review, Moira. Although I read crime fiction, my knowledge of the genre is too limited to even merit a line. Martin's book will give me an inside view of crime fiction. It's just what I need.
ReplyDeleteIt is both a reference resource and a hugely enjoyable read Prashant - those of us who like our crime fiction cannot fail to get a lot from it
DeleteA real tour-de-force!
ReplyDeleteIt certainly is
