Mona of the Manor by Armistead Maupin
Tales of the City book 10
published 2024
Armistead Maupin wrote the much-beloved Tales of the City series in the 1980s and 1990s. Originally there were six books, featuring a group of friends in Barbary Lane in San Francisco. Then there was a long gap, then slowly he has been adding to the canon, each time saying 'this is the last book....'
Book number 10 comes out early in March: the action has moved to England, and the events take place in 1994.
I have reviewed it for the i newspaper - you can see my review here:

Excellent review as always, Moira. These stories remind me just a bit of Alexander McCall Smith's 44 Scotland Street series in the way the characters' lives move along and intersect. Or perhaps that's just me.
ReplyDeleteOh that's a very good comparison, and one I hadn't thought of! It's a good idea for a novelist - a house where very varied people can live together gives lots of possibilities for stories.
