Of course as soon as I saw this one was 1963 I knew I'd be doing it, but there were others of interest. I hope Rich will repeat the exercise with a different year.Clothes In Bookshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14680610242823846662noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6129427507761315524.post-17886475440317108642014-06-20T11:06:17.428+01:002014-06-20T11:06:17.428+01:00I agree, I think the clothes of that period are pa...I agree, I think the clothes of that period are particularly attractive. At least I have all of them; she is one of the earlier mystery authors whose books I held onto after reading them. Mostly in paperback, of course, because that was what I could afford. Then I wanted to do a Rex Stout book, The Mother Hunt. And finally settled on Horse Under Water by Deighton. A lot of good books published in 1963.TracyKhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08303342674824383688noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6129427507761315524.post-55392874470693738102014-06-20T03:12:08.343+01:002014-06-20T03:12:08.343+01:00I admit I haven't read the books, however, I l...I admit I haven't read the books, however, I love the suit in the top photo and the editor/milliner, Lilly Dache,' at work wearing her hat.

I love the clothes of that period.

I met a woman at a doctor's office who only wears suits, hats, coats and shoes from the 1940s and 1950s, an all-vintage wardrobe. She is a writer. Her outfit resembled the clothes in these photos; it was all in cranberry, except for the brown shoes, which had high, thick heels.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6129427507761315524.post-16250870396310695792014-06-19T22:37:42.437+01:002014-06-19T22:37:42.437+01:00I always enjoy them, and will continue to look out...I always enjoy them, and will continue to look out for them and work my way through the list - I agree, it's surprising some enterprising publisher hasn't relaunched them.Clothes In Bookshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14680610242823846662noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6129427507761315524.post-58056975678669316472014-06-19T21:23:23.363+01:002014-06-19T21:23:23.363+01:00I love Moyes, Moira, but I must admit I haven'...I love Moyes, Moira, but I must admit I haven't read this one yet. I've got my eye on Dead Men Don't Ski, after you mentioned it - partly because of your reco, and partly because I love pictures of vintage ski wear, snowy young couples from a bygone age etc, so will enjoy finding an image!Clothes In Bookshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14680610242823846662noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6129427507761315524.post-4829509234601715052014-06-19T13:19:58.837+01:002014-06-19T13:19:58.837+01:00Moira - I like the Henry Tibbetts series very much...Moira - I like the Henry Tibbetts series very much, not least because of Tibbetts' relationship with his delightful wife Emmy. Such a good pairing. And to me anyway there's a solid balance between a mystery that gets/keeps the reader's attention, and the right light touch. Glad you featured this one, and if you haven't tried others in this series, I recommend them. Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
