Drinking and hunting and horses sounds scary to me... but then I have zero experience with horses also. I try to keep an open mind.TracyKhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08303342674824383688noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6129427507761315524.post-45219587964608343292015-01-04T12:42:15.189+00:002015-01-04T12:42:15.189+00:00Do you think it's either in your blood or not?...Do you think it's either in your blood or not? I don't understand it at all either. I think hunting scenes always have a similarity in those books and films... one of my friends commented to me that her father used to be the butler giving out the drinks before the hunt at some big house, many years ago, which I found fascinating....Clothes In Bookshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14680610242823846662noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6129427507761315524.post-78032075901585237762015-01-04T05:57:36.502+00:002015-01-04T05:57:36.502+00:00I don't understand hunting. Male friends hunted (my first husband went once with a friend). My father owned and loved guns. But still, just a foreign concept to me. This reminds me of the hunting scenes in Gosford Park (although I know the issues here are totally different). And it's interesting to see how the problem of drinking was dealt with at that time. And of course, those fine old traditions like the post-Christmas hunt. There's so much in this novel that I'll bet you could have a year of posts just about it. Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
