I realised this when I noticed elements of Wodehousian humour in one or two of her books. I like the picture of Christie surfing in Hawaii — she was quite the adventurer. I really do like Christie's down-to-earth style, and the way she was willing to tell stories on herself. You make an interesting point about her getting grumpy, too. That comes through here and there in her work (e.g. Poirot's opinion ot the way young women dress, which we see in several books, and his opinion of modern 'courting,' which we see in <i>Hickory Dickory Dock</i>.
